Energy and Water Utilization Efficiency

Ajman University (AU) promotes the efficient use of energy and water through infrastructure improvements, conservation technologies, and ongoing resource-management initiatives across the campus.

A Building Management System (BMS) has been installed in new buildings, with plans for further expansion to older facilities. The system supports more efficient monitoring and management of building operations and energy use.

The University also implements water-efficiency measures through facilities such as its sewage treatment plant, reverse osmosis plant, and hand-sensor-operated wash basins. These measures support water conservation and the more efficient utilization of available resources.

Another initiative is the installation of a solar-powered lighting system in the parking area, which helps reduce reliance on conventional electricity for outdoor lighting while supporting operational efficiency and campus safety.

From AY 2019–2020 to AY 2024–2025, the University’s overall faculty, staff, and student population increased by approximately14.2%, primarily driven by growth in the student population. This institutional expansion has increased the scale of academic, administrative, and campus activities supported by University facilities and resources.

In AY 2024–2025, expenditure on water and electricity increased by approximately 2.3% compared with the previous academic year. This increase occurred in the context of continued institutional growth and higher levels of campus activity and resource demand.

Ajman University continues to monitor energy and water consumption and expenditure while implementing efficiency measures to support responsible resource management and sustainable campus operations.
