Ajman University, represented by Ms. Maya Haddad, the Office of Sustainability Manager, took part in the 3rd Quarterly Working Group Meeting of the Greening Education Partnership (GEP) on October 2, 2023. This global initiative, which brings together over 1,000 organizations and 80 member states, aims to ensure that education systems worldwide prepare learners for the challenges of climate change. The meeting provided a platform for member states and stakeholders to discuss strategies to enhance climate-focused education and align their efforts with broader sustainability goals.
Key discussions revolved around the implementation of GEP’s four core pillars: greening schools, curriculum, teacher training, and community engagement. Each working group shared updates on their activities and the development of joint work plans. A major point of focus was the preparation for COP28, where GEP members plan to present climate education strategies on a global stage.
Ms. Maya Haddad’s involvement highlights Ajman University’s commitment to sustainability, particularly through its role in advancing educational initiatives that foster climate resilience. The university’s participation underscores its dedication to playing a significant part in the global movement towards sustainable development and climate action
