As anticipation builds for COP28, Ajman University's Office of Sustainability is launching an engaging and interactive COP28 Awareness Roadshow to raise awareness of the climate crisis and the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This roadshow offers students and the wider community a chance to learn about global climate challenges through fun activities, while promoting the upcoming COP28 conference at Expo City Dubai.
Interactive Games and Activities for Climate Awareness
The roadshow features a variety of games and activities designed to creatively engage participants with the UN SDGs. Through interactive activities, students learn about the essential objectives related to sustainability, including climate action, clean energy, and responsible consumption. These activities not only make learning enjoyable, but also spark significant conversations about how everyone can contribute to a more sustainable future.
Climate Call Hackathon: Empowering Students to Lead Change
As part of the roadshow, the Climate Call Hackathon, organized in collaboration with the UAE Independent Climate Change Accelerators (UICCA), encourages students to be part of the climate solution. The hackathon invites participants to submit innovative proposals that address issues such as water scarcity, food security, and clean energy. With AED 25,000 in funding available, winners will also gain exposure to Climate Tribe and at COP28, as well as connections to key implementation partners, giving students a platform to make a real-world experience.
Climate Fresk Workshop: Learning Through Collaboration
The roadshow also includes the Climate Fresk Workshop, a collaborative and playful 3-hour workshop designed to enhance participants' understanding of climate change and the key topics that will be discussed at COP28. This workshop is open to all participants aged 15 and above and provides a platform to not only learn but also to envision creative solutions to tackle climate challenges. Participation is free; however registration is required to secure a spot in this transformative experience.
With the COP28 Awareness Roadshow, Ajman University's Office of Sustainability is bringing climate action to the forefront of the community, enabling students and participants to become involved in global climate solutions.
