Ajman University, through its Office of Sustainability, reaffirmed its commitment to advancing sustainable education by participating in the Third Quarterly Working Group Meeting of the Global Education Partnership (GEP) held on Monday, 23 September 2024. The high-level session brought together education leaders and sustainability experts to share progress updates, outline strategic next steps, and strengthen global collaboration following the launch of two significant publications titled Greening Curriculum Guidance and the Green School Quality Standard.
Centered on the theme of scaling up climate-focused education, the meeting served as a collaborative platform to explore the implementation of comprehensive greening strategies across schools and universities. Representatives from participating institutions discussed the development of two forthcoming technical guidance documents: the Greening Teacher Capacity Policy Dialogue Tool and the Guidance on Greening Communities, led by Working Groups 3 and 4, respectively. These initiatives aim to provide actionable frameworks that support educators, policymakers, and institutions in embedding sustainability principles into their operations and curricula.
The session also featured an engaging dialogue on global preparations for COP29, where greening education is set to be a central theme. Participants exchanged perspectives on how to amplify education’s role in driving climate action and aligning national efforts with global sustainability goals. Conducted in both English and French with simultaneous interpretation, the meeting highlighted the importance of inclusivity and cross-cultural collaboration in building a unified approach to environmental education.
Ajman University’s engagement in this international forum underscores its dedication to global knowledge exchange and policy innovation in sustainability. Through the Office of Sustainability, the University continues to play an active role in international initiatives that promote quality education, climate awareness, and environmental responsibility, contributing to the UAE’s vision of a sustainable, knowledge-driven future.
