Students from the Department of Architecture at Ajman University have demonstrated exceptional talent and intellectual prowess by securing a win at the prestigious ASHRAE Student Debate Competition. The event was held on Thursday, 21st November 2024, at the Auditorium of Al Safa Art & Design Library in Dubai.
Under the supervision of Dr.Muna Salameh, students Aysha Nimra and Itemat Sauria, alongside their teams, represented the university with distinction. The competition provided a rigorous platform for students to engage in critical discourse on pivotal industry topics, showcasing their deep knowledge, confidence, and debating skills.
The debate featured challenging and forward-thinking themes central to the future of the built environment, including:
· Energy Efficiency vs. Occupant Well-Being: Examining the primary drivers of sustainable development.
· Digital Innovation vs. Human Expertise: Debating the key forces behind building decarbonization.
· The Future of Urban Planning: Weighing the merits of Smart Cities against Green Cities.
