Ajman University’s Office of Sustainability Engages in the Fifth EHSPN Conference

The Fifth Emirates HigherEd Safety Professional Network (EHSPN) Conference brought together leading Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) professionals from various UAE universities for a collaborative event aimed at addressing critical health and safety issues within higher education institutions. The conference provided a unique platform for the exchange of knowledge, fostering meaningful discussions on essential topics related to safety, sustainability, and emergency preparedness.

The agenda featured several insightful sessions, covering key areas designed to help universities enhance their emergency preparedness and crisis response capabilities, including:

• Keynote session: "The EHS Highwire" written by Mr. Akram Bekzada, which explored the delicate balance of maintaining high EHS standards in complex environments.
• Open Forum on Crisis Management: Moderated by Mr. Prasanth N.K., this interactive session shared best practices and strategies for effective crisis management in higher education, providing valuable insights into real-world applications.
• ZU EHSMS Presentation: Highlighting the impact of Environmental Health and Safety Management Systems (EHSMS) on academic accreditations and university rankings, this presentation showcased how universities can balance excellence in safety and sustainability.
• NYU Abu Dhabi's Panel Discussion: The team from New York University Abu Dhabi shared valuable insights into corrective actions, focusing on overcoming obstacles, task assignments, and effective task closure.

Ajman University was represented by Ms. Maya Haddad, the Sustainability and EHS Manager, who played a key role in the discussions. The Office of Sustainability team from Ajman University also actively participated, engaging with peers from other institutions and contributing to the broader dialogue on enhancing sustainability practices in higher education.
