Ajman University’s Office of Sustainability participated in the “Ghars” initiative, launched by the Ajman Youth Council in collaboration with the UAE Council for Entrepreneurship, the UAE Agriculture Council, Ajman Tourism Development Department, Ajman University, University of Sharjah, Zayed University, and Greenpeace MENA, on the occasion of World Environment Day 2025.
The initiative’s agenda featured a series of intellectual and interactive activities, including two panel discussions with experts and specialists in the fields of environment, agriculture, and sustainable digital content. These sessions also provided university students with the opportunity to present innovative initiatives aimed at developing local environmental solutions, alongside hands-on activities focused on community farming.

The projects were supervised by Prof. Fares Howari, Dean of the College of Humanities and Sciences, and Dr. Samer Zyoud, Senior Lecturer in the College. In addition, Ms. Asma Al Shamsi, Manager of Athletics at the Office of Student Life, led the Sustainable Art Workshop, which highlighted the connection between creative expression and environmental responsibility.
Ajman University’s participation reflects its strong commitment to promoting environmental awareness and advancing sustainability practices, by empowering its students to put forward innovative ideas and practical solutions that support national efforts toward building a sustainable and prosperous future.
