A team of Ajman University students has achieved remarkable success on the competitive sustainability stage, earning a spot as one of the Top 17 finalists out of 56 competing teams at the UAE Sustainability Championship: 17 SDGs. Organized by SP Jain School of Global Management and held in June 2025, the prestigious competition brought together innovative minds across multiple global hubs, including Dubai, Mumbai, Singapore, and Sydney.
Competing under the name Team Green Pulse, the Ajman University students demonstrated exceptional critical thinking, collaborative problem-solving, and a deep commitment to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
At the heart of their finalist presentation was the project “Nabrah – The Green Heart of the Desert.” The team envisioned a comprehensive blueprint for a sustainable, smart city, directly addressing the challenges and opportunities outlined in SDG 11: Sustainable Cities & Communities.
The concept demonstrated a sophisticated understanding of urban planning, integrating smart technologies and ecological design to create a livable, resilient, and environmentally friendly urban environment suited for the region's unique climate and geography.
Participation in the championship provided the Ajman University students with a dynamic platform to apply design thinking to real-world environmental challenges. The multi-city nature of the competition allowed the team to exchange knowledge, ideas, and best practices with other innovative teams from across the UAE and the wider region.
This experience not only sharpened the students' technical and analytical skills but also enhanced their ability to collaborate across disciplines—essential competencies for the next generation of sustainability leaders.
This impressive achievement aligns seamlessly with Ajman University’s institutional dedication to sustainability and global citizenship. As a university ranked among the world’s top 300 institutions in the Times Higher Education Sustainability Impact Rankings 2026—and #1 in the UAE for SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals)—Ajman University actively encourages students to engage in experiential learning that addresses pressing global issues.
By supporting student participation in high-level competitions like the UAE Sustainability Championship, the university continues to bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world environmental impact.
Ajman University extends its congratulations to Team Green Pulse for their outstanding representation of the institution and their dedication to shaping a more sustainable future. Achievements like these underscore the vital role that university students play in driving innovation and designing the resilient, sustainable communities of tomorrow.
