Ajman University students have earned regional recognition at Kaleidoscope 2025, a student-centric sustainable design competition, winning the regional prize and presenting their work in New Delhi, India. The achievement follows their first-place finish in the institutional round of the competition.
The students participated under the supervision of Dr. Mona, who guided their work throughout the competition. Kaleidoscope transforms ColourNext research into a hands-on learning experience, offering budding designers the opportunity to engage with real-world, industry-relevant sustainable design briefs and present their work at a regional level.
This year's theme, "Global Stories, Local Expressions," invited students to conceptualize a Community Centre in their capital city. The brief encouraged participants to integrate ColourNext 2025 trends into their design approach, showcase the application of Asian Paints Berger finishes and products across interior and exterior spaces, and balance global design influences with authentic local cultural elements.
The Ajman University team's success at both the institutional and regional levels reflects the university's commitment to experiential learning and industry engagement. By working with real-world design briefs and industry partners, students gained valuable experience that bridges academic study and professional practice.
The competition provided students with a platform to demonstrate their creativity and technical skills while addressing sustainable design challenges relevant to the region. Their regional win and presentation in New Delhi places Ajman University students among the top emerging designers in the competition.
