Ajman University strengthened its climate and sustainability capacity through the participation of its Office of Sustainability in the UCN/PRME Carbon Literacy Course, completed by Rami Elhadi as part of the University’s continued engagement with the UAE Universities Climate Network (UCN).
The three-day course was organized under the UCN Communal Activation Pillar in collaboration with Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME), with course delivery supported by Zayed University faculty. The programme focused on strengthening participants’ understanding of climate change and carbon emissions and introducing practical approaches to climate action and carbon reduction.
The course explored the science and impacts of climate change, together with practical approaches to reducing carbon emissions and supporting the transition towards a low-carbon future. Participants were also required to develop a final personal or professional pledge as part of the course requirements.
Representing Ajman University’s Office of Sustainability, Rami Elhadi completed the 16.5-hour course and was awarded a Certificate of Participation dated 19 May 2026, having attended at least seven of the eleven sessions and successfully passed the final examination.
The training complements Ajman University’s broader engagement with the UAE Universities Climate Network and its UCN Decarbonization Academy, through which the University contributes to strengthening climate knowledge, institutional capacity, and practical approaches to decarbonisation across higher education.
This achievement reflects Ajman University’s continued commitment to professional development and sustainability capacity building, while strengthening the expertise needed to support climate action and informed sustainability practices across the University community.
