The Office of Sustainability Celebrates Earth Day by Promoting Sustainable Agriculture

As part of its commitment to supporting the UAE’s sustainability agenda and promoting responsible environmental practices, Ajman University’s Sustainability Office organized an awareness event to mark Earth Day at the University’s Hydronic Solar powered greenhouse. The facility uses hydroponic farming technology to raise students’ awareness of sustainable agricultural solutions and the role of renewable energy in strengthening food security and protecting natural resources.

The event brought together a number of students who explored advanced hydroponic farming techniques and learned how these systems reduce water consumption, improve land-use efficiency, and lower carbon emissions in line with the Sustainable Development Goals. Participants also learned how the greenhouse operates using solar energy, providing a practical example of how innovation and clean technologies can support sustainable food production.

This initiative reflects Ajman University’s commitment to integrating sustainability into its education, research, and operations. By providing hands-on learning opportunities, the University equips students with the knowledge and skills to contribute to a more sustainable future, in line with the UAE’s vision and national sustainability goals.
